Post-Conference Field Excursions
会后实地考察
Hosted by Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), Chinese Academy of Sciences
All excursions depart from Jinghong and return the same day, except the international trips.
Each field trip includes scientific interpretation by XTBG researchers or affiliated experts.
Field excursion spaces are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to join, please send the completed field trip reservation form by email to zhuangyu@xtbg.ac.cn copying atbc2026@tropicalbiology.org.
2. Bubeng Field Station & Wantianshu Lowland Rainforest Canopy Ecology
Practical Information:

Departure time: 08:00
Travel time from Jinghong: Approx. 2 hours each way
Difficulty level: Moderate (forest terrain and canopy access)
Estimated return time to Jinghong: approx. 20:00

3. Asian Elephant Conservation & Habitat Restoration
Practical Information:

Duration: Full day

Travel time from Jinghong: Approx. 1–1.5 hours each way

4. Jinuo Mountains & XTBG Biocultural Landscape Experience

5. Mengyuan Karst Landscape & XTBG Limestone Plant Conservation

6. Cross-Border Mekong Landscape & Biodiversity
Practical Information:
Dates: Available on July 4 2026
Duration: 5 days (post-conference)
Travel: High-speed rail (China–Laos Railway) and local transport
Difficulty level: Easy to moderate walking
Fee: USD 500 per person (approx. RMB 3,500)
Important visa and travel note:
Participants are responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate visa or entry permit to enter Laos and, if applicable, to re-enter China after the excursion. Visa-related costs are not included in the estimated fee. Participants who wish to conclude their travel in Laos and return directly to their home country, rather than returning to China with the group, may indicate this preference during registration. We will try to provide logistical guidance where possible.
