Carly Cook

Associate Professor Carly Cook is a conservation scientist at Monash University in Australia where she leads the Conservation Management Research Group. Her research is focused on bridging the gap between conservation science and practice and much of her research is focused on improving area-based conservation. She is the recipient of an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship investigating how Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) can be used to support landscape-scale conservation. As part of this research, she is filling knowledge gaps about how to identify the diverse areas that support biodiversity outside of protected areas, and developing systems to ensure the transparent reporting of OECMs. She is also working to understand the views of relevant stakeholders about OECMs and to document case studies that can support best-practice.
